Gary “Mani” Mounfield, bassist for the Stone Roses and Primal Scream, has passed away at 63.
The musician’s brother, Greg, confirmed his death in a statement on social media.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother,” he wrote, adding, “RIP R Kid.”
Greg included a photo of Mani with his “beautiful wife Imelda,” who died from cancer in 2023.
The couple’s twin sons were born in 2013.
Mani’s cause of death has not been announced.
Among those leading tributes were his Stone Roses singer Ian Brown, who wrote , “Rest in peace Mani X,” and Oasis singer Liam Gallagher who posted , “In total shock and absolutely devastated on hearing the news about Mani. My hero, RIP R Kid.”
