A Little Canada man is accused of using Facebook Marketplace to target victims, robbing them of valuable items with a handgun.

Charges out of Ramsey County allege 24-year-old Elester Todd Pope communicated with a victim on Facebook Marketplace, agreeing to buy a PlayStation 5, two controllers, a 27-inch monitor for $650 on October 30.

When they met at the Grand Pre Apartments in Little Canada, Pope approached the seller and said, “This is my shit now.” He then pulled up his sweatshirt, revealing an extended magazine and the grip of a firearm.

The victim left the items and reported the robbery to authorities.

The incident was captured on the apartment’s video surveillance system. Two very similar robberies occurred at the same address a week earlier, and were also caught on CCTV.
