WASHINGTON — The White House was seeing red ahead of President Trump’s meeting with New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.
“Tomorrow we have a communist coming to the White House because that is who the Democrat Party elected as the mayor of the largest city in the country,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday.
Leavitt was coy about what to expect at Friday’s meeting of two men who have been at odds as insiders speculate about whether Trump, 79, plans to treat Mamdani, 34, to a humiliating spectacle similar to his clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in February.
But the fact that Trump will welcome Mamdani at all reflects the president’s open mind, Leavitt said.
