ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Several agencies are still searching for Johnell Smith III after he escaped from the custody of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for the arrest of Smith. Crime Stoppers will pay out $1,500 and a private fund will add $3,500.

Smith escaped on Nov. 12 from a program in Chicago, officials said.

In April 2023, 17-year-old Danny Taylor was murdered during a home invasion in Milan, Illinois.

Smith was convicted of the murder and sentenced to 35 years.
