WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - A Waterbury family escaped with their lives from a second house fire in less than a year, with both rental homes owned by the same property owner.
Denny Perez and her family of six are now homeless after their rental house on Tudor Street caught fire early Saturday morning. The family previously survived a fire five days before Christmas in 2024 at another rental property owned by Jason Kantz.
“Here he goes again, neglecting another home. Our family almost died again. Kids are petrified, we’re outside, it’s one o’clock in the morning,” Perez said.
The family believes the landlord’s negligence caused both fires.
