(CNN)– Verizon employees are bracing for a huge round of layoffs.
The company says it’s cutting 13,000 positions as part of the new CEO’s transformation plan.
That’s 13% of the total staff.
Dan Schulman took the helm at the wireless and internet company last month.
He says the layoffs will extend across all businesses, and will allow the company to focus on growing its customer base.
Verizon continues to face increased competition from T-mobile and AT&T.
