For the second consecutive year, the Long Beach Wilson girls cross country team has advanced the CIF Southern Section Finals at Mt. San Antonio College.
When the finals begin Saturday morning, the Bruins will be looking to improve on last season’s ninth-place result and earn a top-seven finish, which would send the Bruins — or any other local team — to the CIF State Meet on Nov. 29 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
At the CIF-SS prelims last week, Wilson was led by Moore League champion Nadia Mejia. The senior finished seventh in their heat with a time of 17 minutes and 22 seconds over 3 miles. She was closely followed by junior Audrey Buckley (17:31). The Bruins finished second in their heat to Trabuco Hills.
