GREENSBORO, N.C. — Triad Christmas tree farms are gearing up for opening weekend, and growers say this year’s supply looks strong — despite last year’s damage from Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.

Hickory Creek Farm in Greensboro spent this week hauling in fresh-cut Fraser firs from its mountain fields and preparing for the busy season. Owner Kevin Gray says crews are unloading trees, tagging fields for cut-your-own options, making wreaths, and finishing the hayride wagon.

Gray says demand is already high.

“We’re anticipating the demand to be very high again this year based on the phone calls and web traffic we’re seeing,” he said.
