A body was found at a popular Bergen County nature center Thursday, Nov. 20, authorities confirmed.
A hiker found the body of a deceased male at the Tenafly Nature Center at 2 p.m. and called police, according to Jeff Angermeyer, Deputy Chief of Detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers from the Tenafly Police Department located the body in a wooded area within the Nature Center and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit. Detectives from the Prosecutor's Office responded to the scene and initiated a joint investigation.
This ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Tenafly Police Department, under the direction of Chief Robert Chamberlain.
No other information is available at this time while the investigation is underway, but more details will be released when possible, Angermeyer said.
The Tenafly Nature Center is a more than 400-acre nonprofit nature preserve with multiple different trails steps from the Palisades.
