BELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - 911 dispatchers in Bell County have a new option for callers who need medical attention but don’t need an ambulance.

The Bell County Communications Center is now partnering with RiteSite to give callers the option of connecting directly board-certified ER doctors by telephone or video call.

“To provide another option for them to avoid having and ambulance ride, to be able to see a doctor over the phone, and not have to wait in the ER,” said Aly Clark, Staffing and Development Manager for Bell County Communications Center.

It is a voluntary option for callers that need medical attention that can be taken care via telemedicine.

It’s not a way to avoid sending an ambulance but rather to give callers another option.
