The weather has not cooperated enough to allow for Powderhorn Mountain Resort to open today, as the resort had previously hoped.

Earlier this week, forecasted temperatures and some natural snow on the horizon had the resort optimistic that it could open today. However, an update sent by the resort via email Thursday said that their opening day is still to be determined.

“Warmer fall temperatures and limited natural snowfall have made it challenging to produce the base depth needed for opening,” the email states. “That said, there is real reason for optimism. A recent shift in weather patterns brought some meaningful snow to the mountain. Our crew was ready and snow guns were activated, everywhere humidity and temps allowed.”
