The Pirates have avoided arbitration with outfielder Jack Suwinski and re-signed him to a 1 year, $1.25 million deal, a source informed the Post-Gazette.
Suwinski, 27, batted .147 with three homers and 10 RBIs in 59 games last season. He is out of minor league options and was viewed as a potential non-tender candidate.
MLB Trade Rumors had projected that Suwinski would receive $1.7 million in arbitration.
Suwinski seemingly had a breakout 2023 season, hitting .224 with 26 homers and 74 RBIs in 144 games. Instead, he hit .182 with nine homers and 26 RBIs in 2024, finishing with a minus-1.7 bWAR in 88 games in 2024. He struggled further in 2025.
The chances of Suwinski returning seemingly increased over the last few days. The Pirates designated two outfielders for assignment on Tuesday:
