When Dundonian Harris Brown registered Scotland’s first moonshine business with Companies House in November 2020, he never envisioned that launching a new spirit brand mid-pandemic would transform his life.
However, for the former tech recruitment consultant, the timing for Highland Moon made sense.
The 1920s Prohibition era had long fascinated him, and he saw parallels between its forced ingenuity and Scotland’s own lockdowns. So, he left his job in Edinburgh that August, connected with Arbroath distiller, Lewis Scothern from Distillutions, and set about creating a Scottish take on moonshine.
Today, Highland Moon is one of Scotland’s fastest-growing drinks brands and the first moonshine ever to be poured inside an international rugby stadium.
