ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Here are my five takes from the Buffalo Bills ’ 23-19 loss against the Houston Texans Thursday night at NRG Stadium and the mini bye they have before facing Pittsburgh on Nov. 30:

1. If anything is clear about the Bills’ path to a 7-4 record, it’s their blatant inconsistency.

This team has made too many wild swings, beginning with a 4-0 start that was followed by back-to-back losses. Just when it seemed they had turned a corner by winning two in a row (with the second victory coming against what had been the ascending Chiefs), they looked atrocious at Miami. Call that the “They Wanted it More,” game, to quote Josh Allen and other Bills players who provided one of the more head-scratching perspectives uttered in a long time.
