THE Scottish pantomime season has started in earnest (oh yes it has!), and one of the first shows out of the blocks is Gallus In Weegieland at Glasgow’s Tron Theatre. The Tron is the original home of the tongue-in-cheek, pastiche panto, and, for many years now, its Yuletide scripts have come from the pen of the great pantomime writer Johnny McKnight.

McKnight – who is also a director and legendary pantomime dame – alternates between the stages of the Tron and Stirlingshire’s Macrobert Arts Centre. This festive season, he is the cross-dressed lead (of a stellar cast) in his self-scripted (and self-directed) Weans In The Wood.
