PULLMAN, Wash. -- The UW student who shot a WSU football player after the Apple Cup has been released from jail.

20-year-old Jakori Buchanan was released on his own recognizance on Saturday, according to the Washington VINE service.

Buchanan pleaded guilty to third-degree assault on November 17 and was sentenced to three months in jail, with credit for time served.

Pullman Police say Uilisone "Sone" Falealo, an offensive lineman for the Cougars, was shot in the stomach. Court documents indicate he underwent surgery to remove the bullet, which did not damage any organs. He has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
