MARION — Sophomore shooting guard Jakiya Peterman led a second-half uprising as the Marion Wildcats defeated the Mount Carmel Lady Aces, 61-57, in nonconference play Saturday afternoon at Cuss Wilson Gymnasium.

Beating Mount Carmel was no small task. The Aces placed third in the state in Class 2A a year ago and only graduated one starter from last year’s 31-5 team.
