NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A new resource is helping survivors of domestic violence in Pasco County.
What You Need To Know • A new resource called the Empowerment Room is serving as a safe space for survivors of domestic violence and other crimes to receive aid • According to the Clerk of Circuit Court's office, more than 3,000 domestic violent injunctions are expected to be filed in Pasco County this year • The Empowerment Room, recently opened and founded by Pasco County Clerk of Circuit Court Nikki Alvarez-Sowles, offers counseling, shelter or even legal help • Other emergency filings can be made in private inside the Empowerment Room, such as those related to drug abuse or elder abuse
