ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - On November 22, Rapides Parish School Board, alongside the Governor’s Office, Walmart and several Cenla-based businesses and organizations joined forces to provide Thanksgiving meals to 600 families in Rapides Parish.
The meals were contributed by Walmart stores across Louisiana, and were delivered to families gathered outside the Laborde Earles Colisuem (formerly Rapides Parish Coliseum) on Saturday.
JROTC Cadets from Alexandria Senior High School, Bolton Academy & Peabody Magnet High School helped distribute frozen turkeys, boxed mashed potatoes, gravy and many more Thanksgiving essentials.
According to organizers, Alexandria Fire Department was on site providing logistical support. They also said before meals were handed out, Pineville High School’s football
