PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Phoenix City Councilwoman is clarifying her stance on the affordable housing crisis after receiving pushback for comments about young people and their ability to afford homes.

The controversy stems from House Bill 2721 , which has been a polarizing topic at recent city council meetings. It declares that middle housing, such as townhomes, duplexes, and triplexes, is allowed in certain areas zoned for single-family homes without limitations.

On Wednesday night , the Phoenix City Council voted unanimously to comply with the state law as a way to make housing more affordable.

During the meeting, Laura Pastor shared her personal experience with home ownership and said the following:
