Goodrich lost a longtime member of its school and athletic community as the death of Dan Sellers was confirmed on Saturday.
Sellers was Goodrich’s football and basketball announcer for home games and was also a retired teacher who also had once coached JV football for the program. He was on the sidelines at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills on Saturday for Goodrich’s state semifinals football game against Dearborn Divine Child when he collapsed in the final seconds of the game.
Goodrich coach Tom Alward said he was attended to by paramedics and support personel on site and that an AED was able to bring Sellers' pulse back after going into cardiac arrest. However, Alward said Sellers went into distress again after being transported to the hospital and died as a result.
