Experts have shared some of the most affordable ways to stay warm this winter, with certain options costing less than a penny per hour. In light of the energy price rise in October, they have urged households to explore alternative methods for keeping the cold at bay.

The Money Saving Expert (MSE) website, founded by Martin Lewis, cautioned that turning on the heating has become "even more unaffordable" for many families following a two per cent price hike on October 1. One of its key suggestions was the approach of "heating the human not the home".
