BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Thanksgiving is only a few days away and one local organization is doing their part to make sure veterans can get the full turkey day experience.
The Maine Veterans Project held their Thanksgiving Distribution Event at the Elks Lodge in Bangor on Saturday.
Veterans could come in and pick out whatever food they would like, which included 200 turkeys, 200 gallons of milk, 200 pounds of bacon and more.
The event also hosted other organizations both inside and outside the V-A system to help veterans get their benefits.
MVP says that they wanted vets to know they’re not alone.
“It shows that there’s people out here that still care. We’re going through a time where people don’t care about a lot of things right now, so we want people to know that we still care,” said J
