Saturday’s low-pressure area over Strait of Malacca and adjoining South Andaman Sea lay as ‘well-marked’ over the same region this (Sunday) morning in the first step towards intensification as a depression, and later a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal, as confirmed by India Meteorological Department (IMD) .
The IMD said in a morning update the well-marked ‘low’ may move west-northwest and intensify into a depression over south-east Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea by tomorrow (Monday).
Cyclone by Wednesday
Continuing to move further, it may intensify as cyclone (to be named Senyar ) over south-east Bay Wednesday, marked by steady intensification but significantly slow lateral movement of system over the waters.
