EVANSVILLE – An Evansville police officer shot and killed a man after responding to a 911 call Saturday night.
Neither the man nor the officer had been publicly identified as of late Saturday.
According to a news release from EPD spokesman Sgt. Anthony Aussieker, police were dispatched to a home on East Louisiana Street around 8:30 p.m. after a woman reportedly called 911 and said her son and husband "were about to fight."
"When the officer arrived, both males were still inside the home. As the officer entered, a female stated that there was a gun in the home," the release states. "The officer then confronted a male subject who had what appeared to be a gun pointed in their direction.
"The officer gave commands to put the gun down before discharging his service weapon at the male subje
