A fast-moving fire tore through a home in Elizabeth around 9 a.m. Saturday, forcing tenants to jump from windows to escape the flames, WABC-7 reported .
Roughly 80 firefighters battled the blaze on Stiles Avenue before they brought it under control later in the morning.
However, the fire spread to a neighboring house before crews could contain it, according to the WABC-7 report.
At least six people were rushed to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening, authorities said.
After smelling smoke in their room, one resident told WABC-7 that he ran outside.
“Once we realized that there was that much smoke coming in, we ... like, ran out, and we realized the neighbor part of the property was on fire,” he said.
