Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area over Strait of Malacca and adjoining South Andaman Sea became a well-marked system on Sunday and is likely to intensify further, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The well-marked low-pressure area persists over the same region and the associated cyclonic circulation extended up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is very likely to move west north-westwards and intensify into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea on Monday. ADVERTISEMENT
Continuing to move further west-north-westwards, it is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over southeast Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours, the IMD said.
