Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Amit Thackeray Sunday accepted a police notice issued to him for allegedly unveiling the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial in Nerul without permission. His visit to the Nerul police station drew several hundred party workers, turning the routine procedure into a strong show of support for the young MNS leader.
Thackeray earlier refused to take the notice when a team from the Navi Mumbai police visited his Mumbai house Friday.
He had told officers that he would appear at the station himself. On Sunday, he travelled to Navi Mumbai around noon, accompanied by senior MNS leaders Bala Nandgaonkar, Nitin Sardesai, Sandeep Deshpande and Yashwant Killedar.
