Donald Trump’s top diplomat has been accused of calling the US’s plan for peace in Ukraine “ Russia’s wish list”.

The president unveiled a new 28-point framework to settle the long Russian invasion of Ukraine this week, but it has caused major controversy among European leaders.

Ukraine and its allies fear the plan forces the invaded nation to capitulate to Vladimir Putin’s demands.

While Trump insists this is not his “final offer”, he has only given Kyiv until Thursday to agree to the proposal – or face losing access to American intel and military support.

This fear was amplified when American lawmakers claimed US secretary of state Marco Rubio admitted to them the agreement aligns with Russian goals for the region.
