You wanted drama in the F1 drivers' championship, you got it, and it's thanks to the results of the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix that included a pair of disqualifications to the two McLaren cars.
That means both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri don't earn any points... and race winner Max Verstappen did, giving him a shot at winning the whole thing with two races to go in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
So what exactly happened? Per Formula 1: "Post-race, the rearmost skid wear on both McLaren MCL39 machines was found to be below the minimum 9mm thickness by technical delegates on inspection. The matter was referred to the stewards, who subsequently disqualified both cars from the official result, with Norris having finished second and Piastri fourth."
Here's more, with the statement from stewards:
"The rear skids were re-measured in the presence of the Stewards and the three McLaren representatives, and those measurements confirmed that the skids did not comply with the regulations. The relevant measurements were even lower than those measured originally by the Technical Delegate."
Wild.
What are the F1 drivers' standings after the race?
The last two races will be super dramatic!
