STAMFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Police are investigating a serious crash in Stamford on early Sunday morning.
At around 2:39 a.m. officers were called to the area of Washington Boulevard after a report of a collision involving a pedestrian, the police department said.
Following an investigation, it was revealed that a van that was traveling southbound on Washington Boulevard hit a pedestrian who was trying to cross the street.
Officials said the van did not stop and fled the scene of the crash.
The person injured, a 73-year-old man from Stamford, was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police also said the victim was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.
As the investigation continued, police were able to find the suspected vehicle on traffic cameras.
