MUSKEGON, MI – Former juvenile lifer Amy Lee Black could find herself back behind bars for failing to make a good faith effort to pay almost $2 million to the estate of the man she killed in 1990.
Black has paid $982 of her monetary obligation to Dave VanBogelen’s family since she was released from prison in 2022 after serving 31 years for murder.
Restitution payments are $25 a month – a plan Black was placed on upon parole . However, it’s an amount the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office believes is “woefully inadequate” to make the victim whole.
Black recently appeared in Muskegon County Circuit Court to update the judge on her efforts to pay $1.87 million to the VanBogelens.
