The A2 remains closed this afternoon after a serious three-vehicle collision took place in the early hours of Sunday (November 23). National Highways says the eastbound carriageway is shut following the incident and will remain so for at least three more hours.
The closure is in place between the B255 near Bean and the A227 near Gravesend.
National Highways said: "Kent Police are in attendance and are carrying out collision investigations. Once investigations are complete, a clean up operation will begin along with barrier damage assessments.
"Due to the severity of the incident the closure is expected to remain ongoing until at least 16:00."
Drivers have been advised of the following diversion route:
Exit the A2 at Bean (Bluewater) (B255) and re-join the A2 coast bound at the Merry C
