With Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin poised to make a decision on his coaching future by Friday, there has been much speculation about what the College Football Playoff will do with the Rebels.

Could the CFP leave Ole Miss - currently No. 6 in the CFP rankings - out of the Playoff altogether? Will they simply drop them in the rankings of Kiffin leaves for LSU or Florida?

According to Heather Dinich of ESPN, there is no shot the CFP would completely leave the Rebels out of the Playoff like they did with undefeated Florida State after the 2023 season because of a season-ending leg injury to quarterback Jordan Travis. That was a 4-team Playoff and this is now a 12-team one.
