CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash on I-95S near Exit 61B after officers discovered two vehicles stopped in the right lane early Saturday morning.

State police say the vehicles were found just before 2:30 a.m. and that both drivers had exited their cars for unknown reasons. Both drivers were standing outside of their vehicles, near the driver’s side doors and closest to the center lane, when they were struck by an unknown vehicle. police say the suspect vehicle also struck the open driver’s door of one of the vehicles before fleeing the scene.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to a hospital and is reported to be fighting for their life.
