Kochi: If you want to witness a high-stakes political battle, Kaloor South is the place to be. The ward is gearing up for a heated contest between two prominent figures poised to play key roles in Kochi’s governance.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) has once again nominated MG Aristotle, who was a strong opposition voice in the council during the previous Left-led administration. This marks his third attempt to win public support.
If the UDF comes to power, he is expected to be a leading candidate for the position of Deputy Mayor.
His main rival, KV Manoj, is contesting for the fourth time. A member of the CPM District Committee and CITU State Committee, Manoj is also a leader of several workers’ unions.
If the LDF retains its hold, Manoj is the front-runner for the Deputy Mayor post.
