Louisville Metro Police officers shot and killed an armed robbery suspect Nov. 22 in the Southside neighborhood, LMPD Deputy Chief Ryan Bates said.
Fourth Division officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Southland Boulevard on a report of a robbery at 9:55 p.m., Bates said in a brief statement to reporters. The caller said they were robbed at gunpoint.
Using a description they received before arriving at the scene, the officers found a suspect who was walking down the street near the area of the reported robbery, Bates said.
"Officers made contact with the suspect, who started to flee, while at the same time producing a handgun," Bates said. "Two LMPD officers subsequently discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS."
