WASHINGTON — Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, with bipartisan sponsorship, has introduced a bill to bolster America's space exploration and research capabilities.
The Space Research and Continuing Exploration Act calls for creation of a National Institute for Space Research. The institute is proposed to equip the U.S. to lead in the next space race. As the International Space Station approaches retirement, there is an urgent need to ensure uninterrupted access to microgravity research capabilities that underpin advances in national defense, biotechnology and space manufacturing. Kelly, a former astronaut, has been a frequent voice urging the advancement of the country's space program. ×
