In a shocking incident at the revered Maa Thanapati Thakurani Peeth in Righagad village, under Rajnagar police station in Kendrapara district, Odisha, a 55-year-old man was fatally assaulted during a heated altercation on November 23, 2025.

The victim, identified as Budhia Sahu from Righagad, succumbed to injuries after being pushed and beaten amid a brawl that erupted following a temple ritual.

According to reports, a group of youths from Jagannathpur village in Kandira panchayat had visited the temple to prepare and offer “randha bhog” (cooked offerings) to the deity.
