FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a hunter during the night of Sat. Nov. 22.
Officials say they were called to the scene at around 8:28 p.m., in the area of Stumpf Road and Wild Goose Road, in the Town of Oakfield.
A caller, who had been hunting near the same location earlier in the day, located the victim dead near a tree stand from an apparent gunshot wound.
The preliminary investigation showed the subject, identified as a 24-year-old male from Lomira, had a gunshot wound from what is believed to be an unintended discharge.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
