US President Donald Trump has once again accused Ukraine of showing "zero gratitude" for American support in its ongoing conflict with Russia. His comments came as top US, European, and Ukrainian officials convened in Geneva to discuss a proposal aimed at ending the war. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "UKRAINE 'LEADERSHIP' HAS EXPRESSED ZERO GRATITUDE FOR OUR EFFORTS, AND EUROPE CONTINUES TO BUY OIL FROM RUSSIA."

Trump expressed frustration over the war, which he claims began during the "Sleepy Joe Biden Administration" before he took office for his second term. He argued that if the 2020 presidential elections had not been "rigged & stolen," the conflict would not have occurred. He stated, "Putin would never have attacked! It was only when he saw Sleepy Joe in action that he said, 'Now is my chance!'"

The Geneva talks are focused on Trump's controversial 28-point plan, which has raised concerns among Ukrainian and European officials. They fear the proposal leans too much towards Russia's demands, including stipulations that could limit Ukraine's military capabilities and territorial integrity. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that he is awaiting the outcome of the discussions, emphasizing the need for a positive resolution to end the bloodshed.

French deputy defense minister Alice Rufo highlighted that any restrictions on Ukraine's military would undermine its sovereignty, stating, "Ukraine must be able to defend itself. Russia wants war and has waged war many times over the past years."

The situation has been complicated by conflicting statements from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who faced criticism for allegedly describing Trump's peace plan as a Russian "wish list." The State Department later refuted this claim, adding to the confusion surrounding the proposal's intentions and origins.

As the talks progress, Zelensky remains firm in his commitment to defend Ukraine's territory and people, stating, "We will always defend our land." The outcome of these negotiations could significantly impact the future of the conflict and the relationship between Ukraine and its allies.
