A dad has tragically died just hours before he was set to celebrate Christmas early with loved-ones.

Grant Hardie, from Motherwell, Scotland , was diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this year and was receiving end of life care. He was due to celebrate Christmas early with his wife Susan and 10-year-old daughter Autumn at his hospice bedside on Sunday, but the 40-year-old sadly passed away on Saturday night.

The tragic news came only hours after big-hearted well wishers had brought Santa and a big sack of presents to Autumn's door as her father's condition deteriorated rapidly.
