The second installment of the Wicked films had a magical weekend at the box office, bringing in $150 million for the largest opening of a Broadway adaptation ever. It's also the second biggest opening for the year, right behind Minecraft 's $162 million this spring. Wicked: For Good also brought in $76 million internationally, for a total of $226 million globally. Critics are mixed on the film, but audiences gave it an A Cinemascore.

As for other new releases, Rental Family grabbed the fifth place spot with $3.3 million in just under 2000 theaters. The film, which received an A Cinemascore and good reviews, will need to drum up more of an audience over the holiday weekend to stick around in theaters for long.
