2San Antonio, TX – A landlord is facing murder charges after a fatal shooting involving his former tenant. Joshua A. Ford, 37, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the death of Michael Obryan Martin, also 37.

Martin was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a residence in December 2022. He had moved out of the home owned by Ford just prior to the incident.

The arrest report indicates that Ford spoke with police after the shooting. He admitted to shooting Martin in the face, claiming it was self-defense during an argument about unpaid rent.

Ford had conducted a final inspection when Martin arrived unexpectedly, leading to a confrontation. According to the report, Martin had not paid rent for two months before his eviction.
