Thirty-one people were arrested Saturday during a protest at the Krome Detention Center in Miami-Dade, authorities said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sherriff's Office (MDSO), deputies responded after individuals blocked the entrance gate and refused several requests to move.
Officials said that while they fully support the right to peaceful expression, safety must be maintained and access to critical facilities ensured.
After repeated dispersal orders were ignored, multiple individuals were arrested on trespassing charges, deputies said.
No injuries were reported.
