Now, all these years later, Gerard Oversby has become one of the country's most decorated rodeo competitors - a five-time national champion who is well-placed to add to that tally this season.
The 36-year-old is also a husband to Kristy, as well as a father to Cliffy, 4, and Lonnie, 3. They live on a cattle farm just outside Woolbrook. It is one of two New England cattle farms that are owned by Kristy's family.
The Fogerty family's home is Palmer Valley Station, located some 150 kilometres south of Alice Springs and spanning roughly 400,000 hectares of semi-desert country. Kristy emerged from there, and met her future husband for the first time at the Upper Horton Camp
