After trading away DK Metcalf before the 2025 season, the leading question in Seattle was whether Jaxon Smith-Njigba could fill the large shoes left by the Seahawks' WR1.
On Sunday, not only has Smith-Njigba proved that this year, but he is officially having the greatest season for a Seahawks receiver in franchise history.
Metcalf held the record for most receiving yards in a single Seattle season with 1,303 in 2020, and Smith-Njigba broke that number today with a third of a season left to go.
Yeah, that's right: Smith-Njigba has six games left not only to break every Seahawks receiver record in franchise history, but to shoot for some of the all-time great league marks as well.
Calvin Johnson's single-season record in receiving yards of 1,964 is officially in danger. Cooper Kupp, who won the triple crown with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, came close to taking down the record (both by quarterback Matthew Stafford's hand), yet didn't get over the final hurdle.
JSN, who still has a third of a season left on a team that is in contention not only for an NFC West crown but the No. 1 overall seed in the conference, will most likely play the remaining games on the schedule. If he continues at his astronomical pace, Johnson's record not only will fall by the end of the campaign, it might happen in only two to three weeks.
