The Kelowna Rockets capped off Teddy Bear Toss night with a gritty 2–1 win over the Portland Winterhawks, highlighted by Tomas Poletin’s milestone toss-triggering goal and a standout performance from goaltender Harrison Boettiger.
Teddy Bear Toss Goal
The annual celebration erupted just 6:32 into the opening period when Tomas Poletin fired home a power-play one-timer from the slot for his 12th of the season. His finish — set up by a sharp pass from Tij Iginla with Mazden Leslie also drawing an assist — sent thousands of stuffed animals raining onto the Prospera Place ice.
After the bears were cleared, tensions spiked. A flurry of scrums and major penalties closed out a heated first period, but Kelowna stayed composed and carried Poletin’s goal into the intermission with a 1–0 lead.
