GREEN BAY — For a team that won only one game against NFC North opponents last season, the Green Bay Packers are putting themselves in prime position for a reversal of fortune in their division.
Throttling the Minnesota Vikings and an overmatched quarterback J.J. McCarthy with their defense, and grinding it out with an offense that didn’t even have its star running back, the Packers dominated the Vikings, 23-6, on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.
The affair was so one-sided that with 5 minutes, 46 seconds left in the game, all the Vikings offense had to show for its efforts were two Will Reichard field goals and 119 net yards of offense — including minus-22 yards in the second half at that point.
