SAVANNAH, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after Savannah Police Department officers were involved in a shooting while investigating a reported break-in on Sunday.

Officers with the SPD responded to a reported break-in at a home in the 100 block of Malcomb Street.

When officers arrived, they found a person inside the residence, which led to the shooting, the SPD said.

SPD said the individual, as well as the officers present at the scene, will not be identified. Officials added that no additional details about the shooting are being released as officials investigate what led up to the incident.

SPD said the TBI was notified and has “assumed responsibility for the investigation.”
